Location: Irving, TX (onsite)
Employment: Direct employee of Trilogy NextGen
Opening: Immediate / Urgent
Client: Long-term strategic retail, marketing and logistics customer
Experience: Senior-level
About the Role
Trilogy NextGen has an immediate opening for a Senior Business Analyst to support one of our long-term strategic customers in Irving, Texas.
We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in retail finance who also understands technology, data, automation, and the rapidly evolving opportunities around AI.
This is not a traditional BA role focused only on requirements documentation. We need someone who can understand how the business operates, dig into financial and operational processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and work with technical teams to turn those opportunities into practical solutions.
The ideal candidate can comfortably move between finance, retail operations, business stakeholders, data, and technology teams.
You will be employed directly by Trilogy NextGen and work closely with our customer. While this is not being offered as a formal contract-to-hire position, there is potential for the right individual to eventually be hired directly by the customer based on business need, performance, and mutual interest.
What You'll Do
- Partner with finance, retail, operations, technology, and business leadership to understand processes, challenges, and opportunities.
- Analyze financial and operational workflows and identify opportunities for automation, modernization, and improved decision-making.
- Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories, process flows, data requirements, and actionable technical work.
- Work closely with software developers, data teams, AI engineers, and other technical resources.
- Help bridge the communication gap between business stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Analyze financial, sales, inventory, margin, pricing, product, and operational data.
- Support reporting, forecasting, budgeting, profitability, and performance-management initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, analytics, and modern technology to improve business processes.
- Evaluate existing processes critically rather than simply documenting how they work today.
- Assist with solution design, testing, validation, implementation, and business adoption.
- Help prioritize initiatives based on business value, complexity, and expected impact.
- Ask the right questions when requirements are incomplete or when the proposed solution may not address the actual business problem.
- Work independently, follow issues through to resolution, and keep initiatives moving.
What We're Looking For
- Senior-level Business Analyst experience with a strong finance background.
- Experience working within retail, consumer products, e-commerce, merchandising, distribution, or a similar environment.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts such as revenue, margin, profitability, budgeting, forecasting, costs, and financial reporting.
- Experience translating business requirements into technology solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data.
- Ability to understand both business processes and technical concepts.
- Experience working directly with software-development, data, or technology teams.
- Strong process-analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently investigate an issue, determine what information is missing, and ask effective questions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with finance leaders, business users, and technical teams.
AI & Technology Mindset
We are specifically looking for someone who is AI savvy and technology forward.
You do not need to be an AI engineer, but you should:
- Understand how Generative AI and automation can be applied to real business problems.
- Be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, or similar platforms.
- Be able to identify processes where AI could improve productivity, analysis, decision-making, or customer experience.
- Understand enough about APIs, applications, databases, integrations, and data flows to communicate effectively with technical teams.
- Be curious about new technology and willing to experiment.
- Understand the difference between using AI because it is interesting and using AI because it creates measurable business value.
Preferred Experience
- Retail finance or retail FP&A.
- Consumer products, apparel, merchandising, e-commerce, or wholesale/distribution.
- Sales and margin analysis.
- Inventory and product profitability.
- Pricing and promotions.
- Financial and operational reporting.
- ERP, e-commerce, order-management, warehouse, or supply-chain platforms.
- Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Excel, or similar analytical tools.
- AI-enabled analytics or business-process automation.
- Experience participating in technology modernization initiatives.
The Person We're Looking For
We need someone who can sit with a finance leader and understand the numbers, sit with a business leader and understand the operation, and then sit with a developer and explain what actually needs to be built and why.
You should be naturally curious, comfortable challenging assumptions, and willing to dig below the initial request to understand the real business problem.
This is an urgent, immediate opening in Irving, TX. The successful candidate will join Trilogy NextGen and work closely with one of our long-standing strategic customers.
Although this is not formally structured as contract-to-hire, there may be an opportunity for eventual direct employment with the customer for the right candidate.
Applications are handled through our LinkedIn posting for this role.
